Camellia sinensis - Camellia assamica - Chamomilla recutita - Mentha piperita - Rosa canina - et cetera
Although the tea bush has been part of everyday life in the Far East for thousands of years, Euro-peans only began to become familiar with the beneficent effects of the beverage made from the leaf-sprigs of this plant during the 17th century. Due to its stimulative and invigorative power, tea was initially considered a medicinal brew, thus it was accompanied by a vast range of herbal infusions. In a short while, however, tea developed into a whole lot more than just a fashionable health drink. In the first English tea houses, and thence various tea rooms and dances across the continent, society met and exchanged ideas.
